NY roller coaster

VA is the home of the Roller Coaster, but I think NY could rival it. The elevation changes aren’t as steep, but they were relentless. Here’s a sample of the elevation changes:

1180 – 680 – 1280 – 720 – 1180 – 550 – 1390

Most of it was rocky of course.

NY has had a lot of beautiful views and on a clear day you can see NYC from several places on the trail. AT one point we were 30 miles from the city and there is even an AT commuter rail station. It only runs on weekends though.

The Lemon Squeezer

The first day in NY we had 2 obstacles that sounded awesome: Agony Grind and the Lemon Squeezer. Agony Grind was a bunch of rocks in a jumble that we went through. The Lemon Squeezer was 2 rocks really close together that you had to squeeze through. Then a climb up a rock face. My arms were sore after these scrambles. I needed help getting up the rocks after the lemon squeezer. NY came in like a lion and went out like a lamb as the last part of NY was very nice.
